John Smallwood from the Philadelphia Daily News has an insightful take on the Philadelphia Eagles and their upcoming 2008 season. This team is built for success… now. Will it be achieved? Possibly. I see a 10-6 season with a first-round playoff win ahead. But we are still a stud WR & sack producing D-Lineman short of a return trip to the Super Bowl.
Well, it was fun while it lasted, but the Flyers have succumbed to the superior puck handling of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Their defense was too slow & stodgy for the likes of Malkin & Crosby. Biron, who shone against the positional shooting of the Montreal Canadiens, seemed to be left frozen at times as the nimble Penguins shooters made flashy moves and stuffed quick rebounds. The swift skates of Briere and Carter could never produce any sustained offensive threats.
However, Pittsburgh Twidiots take note: your 4-1 drubbing is on deck.
This series against the Penguins won’t be easy without All-Star defenseman Kimo Timonen, and with Miss Sidney Lee Crosby on the other side of the ice. But take a few minutes and enjoy highlights from the great series vs. the Canadiens before Game 1 tonight.
You’ve probably heard about Barack Obama‘s speech on race, delivered in Philadelphia earlier this week. If you have about 1/2 hour — you can watch the entire speech here.
Say what you will about him, but the man is an orator. Kudos for coming out and saying that most whites are the descendants of immigrants, who’ve had to work for everything they’ve got. Also of note is that whites should stop worrying about “losing” jobs to minorities or immigrants, when jobs are being genuinely lost — never to return — to dirt cheap laborers overseas. If he’s sincere, that’s being an American.
Congratulations to my Aunt Nancy & the Norristown Garden Club for their Blue Ribbon entry, Casablanca, at the 2008 Philadelphia Flower Show. If you’re going to the The Flower Show this year, be sure to mention Sean-O.com at the box office. And they’ll… just kind of look at you funny.
Wow. As D-Mac from Philadelphia Will Do put it:
“oh my God, this is the greatest thing in the history of bad music and sports.”
One of the best Philly sports teams ever. In one of the most god awful productions ever.
Presenting your 1988 Philadelphia Eagles — many of whom (Jerome, Reggie, Andre) are no longer with us a mere 20 years later — and their Pièce de résistance (that’s French for “piece of resistance”. No, really.), Buddy’s Watching You.
Well, thankfully the American Idol auditions are over. Once again, there were no Daughtry-esque standouts this season. But we were treated to one truly memorable hometown performance from James Lewis…
