Go Stickman Go!

Don’t let the cutting-edge graphics fool you.  This flash game makes you want to keep playing until you beat it. (which shouldn’t take more very long, after you’ve exhausted the possibilities)

The object is simple: get stickman to his destination by clicking on the spot you want him to go to.  Only watch out, there are about a hundred ways stickman can meet his maker eraser if you make the wrong move!

The Office

One of the few shows that are funny anymore (along with My Name is Earl), NBC’s The Office, will be presenting 10 "mini-episodes" available only on its web site.  The episodes will center around the secondary characters, as star Steve Carell goes to work on Evan Almighty, the sequal to Bruce Almighty with Jim Carrey.

These "webispodes" will make a nice addition to my forthcoming Seasons 1 & 2 DVD.

Miss Ya Melissa

My dark horse has been put out to pasture.

The gal with the smoky voice, and the one who’s benefitted the most from the stylists’ makeovers, is the first of the Final 12 to get the axe.

Maybe if she would’ve bawled when she saw Stevie Frickin’ Wonder, she might have cared enough to memorize the lyrics.

UGH.  Tuesday’s show was probably the worst. Idol. evar.  Everyone was nervous.  No one really stood out.  And the song selections were awful, thanks to the limitation of the Stevie Wonder catalog.  That show was nothing more than a 2-hour crummy commercial for his CD.  (Thank God for the PVR, letting us skim through it in just over 1 hour!)

Now THIS is a User Interface

If you’ve seen Minority Report, then this might look a bit familiar.  I especially love the photo & video motifs. ("pinching" to resize, "spreading" to zoom…)

I think this — or some semblance of it — might actually make it to our home computers in say 5-6 years, as touch-panel LCDs come down to around the price of current standard displays, and as graphics horsepower catches up.

Or is it already here?!

10 tips for taking better pictures

The Photography category has been feeling slighted.  I mean, it’s been 5 months now and not one stinkin’ post about photography?  On a blog blahg that’s all about pictures?!  What gives, man?

So, here are 10 tips for taking better pictures from Kodak.  Seems like everyone’s got a digital camera these days.  So why not get the most out of it?  Why take crappy pictures just because you can?!

You can even use the cheezy, but effective, online flash camera to help reinforce some of the topics.

This one’s worth a bookmark.

Eric Idol

… running out of punny "Idol" headlines …

Well, after having nailed 3 out of 4 departees last week (the 4th was 2nd lowest — my wife will vouch for me!), this week’s results look pretty clear as well.

Outtie: Kinnik (worst performance I’ve seen), Kevin (the cute nerdy boy act has run its course), Bucky (his voice is just gravelly bad, not gravelly good)
…annnnnd… Ayla (?)

Props to Mandisa, though.  After singling her for exclusion early, her last two outings were outstanding.  Not an Idol, for sure, but she’ll be around for another week or two.

Comment of the week — Simon’s response to Ryan saying he had a dream about him the night before: "Why doesn’t that surprise me?"  LOL!  This from the man who, if asked to rate his performance on a scale of 1 to 10: "I’d give myself a 10".

…oh and Katharine, honey, time to kick it up a notch.  Still got the McPhee-ver, but it’s running a little low.

Oh my achin’ back

OK, so you may have noticed a dearth of posts lately.  Thursday night I slipped on the ice on the steps by my driveway.  My one leg flew up in the air like a cartoon character.  Instinctively, I reached out to grab the bush, which kept me upright.  But in so doing, I also wrenched my back.

I didn’t really feel the full effects until Sunday, where my mobility rapidly decreased.  Come Monday morning, I literally couldn’t get up out of bed.

But thanks to Mr. Vic O’Din (regular Irishman), I’m at least able to sit in chair, do a little work, play a little poker (lovin’ Full Tilt — join in and play me heads up!), and update this here blahg thingy.

So fret not, loyal readers, snarky content, viral videos and Lindsay pics are on their way!!

Free USB Pocket Drive!

…from Microsoft.  Just click here and then click the "Get Yours" button (as shown on the right).

The answers to the questions are 2 and true for all the rest.

The drive will be filled with Microsoft propaganda.  Simply delete it, and use it for whatever you like!  These things come in quite handy when you’re transferring files from your notebook to your desktop, for example.

Hope for a Chinese Democracy?

A few years ago, after having waited about 15 years to see Guns N’ Roses in concert, I had the misfortune of being in attendance at the last show they’d ever schedule.

After trying to assuage the sold-out crowd with rock music (including the then-little-known-but-ultimately-awesome Audioslave debut) for an hour after the last opening act, it became increasingly evident that W. Axl was a no-show.

I literally had to shield my wife (then girlfriend) with my body upon leaving the Wachovia Center as people hurled everything from beers to chairs to section-long railings!

Read a great account of that night’s unbelievable events.

Nevertheless, I was still excited to see the recent bootleg release of the decades-in-the-making Chinese Democracy.

Of the 9-song demo EP, a few songs are fairly lame (won’t you come home, Bill Bailey’s voice…), some are decent, and two are really pretty good — I.R.S. being the best of the bunch.

Click on the play button next to the song name above and have a listen.
What do you think?
